第二屆香港中學化妝品配方比賽

本校12名中四修讀化學科的同學參加了第二屆香港中學化妝品配方比賽(由香港城市大學化學系、香港化妝品化學師協會(HKSCC)及香港化粧品同業協會(CPAHK)合辦)。12位同學分成3組，先在6月參加由城大舉辦的實驗工作坊，學習一些製作化妝品的實驗技巧。大會再給每組一套化妝品原材料，各隊伍須就：唇部護理產品、面霜或洗面膏其中一項化妝品製作獨特配方。各組須在7月中提交製成品，並附以短片和書面報告去說明化妝品配方的成份及功效。

大會從接近70個隊伍中，就3個化妝品項目，各挑選3隊進入決賽。本校同學在面霜配方和洗面膏配方兩個項目均進入位決賽。決賽於8月6日，假香港城市大學舉行。同學們在匯報環節和問答環節都表現出色，因此贏得了面霜配方冠軍和洗面膏配方亞軍。在這次比賽中，同學學會把化學知識活用於生活上；明白美容科學涉及多項STEM元素。他們在是次比賽除了獲得獎項外，更獲得寶貴的經驗。

 

The 2^nd HK Secondary School Cosmetic Formulation Competition

12 S4 Chemistry students participated in the 2^nd Hong Kong Secondary School Cosmetic Formulation Competition 2022 which was jointly organized by the Department of Chemistry of City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Society of Cosmetic Chemists (HKSCC) and the Cosmetic & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong Ltd (CPAHK). Our students formed 3 teams and attended a laboratory session in June to learn some experimental skills in developing cosmetic formulations. With a set of complimentary cosmetic ingredients provided, each team designed formulation and produced one cosmetic product from lip care product, face lotion/cream and face cleanser. In July, each team submitted its cosmetic product, together with a video clip and a written report to summarize the preparation and the usage of the cosmetic products. Finally, 3 formulated products were shortlisted for each type of products from nearly 70 sumbitted products.

The final-round competition was held on 6^th August in City University of Hong Kong. Our students had an outstanding performance in both the presentation session and the Q&A session. They reaped the Champion of the Face Cream Formulation and the 1^st runner-up of the Face Cleanser Formulation. In this competition, the students developed a strong interest in cosmetic science and gained valuable experience.
