Language Policy
Our school has long been a highly regarded and sought-after secondary school in the district. Adopting English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI), we have implemented English as the primary language for instruction in most major subjects, including Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Literacy, Home Economics, and Music. In order to cultivate a supportive English-learning environment, we are dedicated to organizing a diverse range of enjoyable activities on campus, such as English musicals, the English Ambassador Program, Language across Curriculum Week, and Campus TV and Broadcast. Additionally, we offer after-school English enhancement courses taught by external tutors.
To further enrich our students' trilingual and biliterate abilities in English and Chinese, we deliver instruction in Chinese for certain subjects, including Citizenship, Economic and Society, Design and Technology, Visual Arts, Positive Values Education, and Physical Education. We strive to enhance students' language proficiency by organizing various activities, such as Chinese Culture Week, presentations by renowned writers, writing competitions, debates, and contributions to school publications, as well as Putonghua public speaking competitions.
Our commitment lies in creating a biliterate and trilingual environment for our students. Throughout each learning cycle, we conduct three morning assemblies in the three languages, providing students with abundant opportunities to utilize these languages through presentations, performances, and acting as MCs. Furthermore, we incorporate a reading lesson and a silent morning reading session into the regular timetable to promote reading. We organize various excursions and exchange programs while encouraging students to partake in external language competitions, aiming to enhance their proficiency in all three languages, broaden their knowledge across subjects, and expand their horizons.
